Résumé

p>Cette étude a été entreprise afin d’évaluer la fréquence du tubercule de Carabelli chez les jeunes Saoudiens. 250 enfants âgés de 7 à 10 ans furent examinés. Seuls les enfants n’ayant aucune carie sur les deuxièmes molaires temporaires et les premières molaires permanentes furent retenus. Il a été trouvé que 58.7 % des enfants portaient ce tubercule et que ce pourcentage était presque identique chez les garçons et chez les filles. Le type tubercule est le plus fréquemment observé, et ceci beaucoup plus chez les filles que chez les garçons. La fréquence de ce tubercule est la même que celle observée chez les malaisiens mais elle est moindre que pour les autres populations

Abstract

This study was carried out to evaluate the prevalence of trait of Carabelli in Saudi Arabian children. 250 children, aged 7 to 10 years were examined. The criterion of inclusion was caries free maxillary second deciduous and first permanent molars. The prevalence of the trait was 58.7% with almost similar distribution between males and females. The tubercular variety was the commonest type, which was significantly more in males than females. The frequency of the trait was similar to that of Malaysians but less than for other population groups.
