Résumé

Dans ce travail, les auteurs mesurent l’efficacité de la recherche Odonto-Stomatologique africaine au sein de l’International Association for Dental Research (I.A.D.R.) et évaluent l’impact de la coopération internationale sur cette recherche. Cette évaluation est réalisée à partir du nombre de publications présentées par les pays africains aux congrès de l’International Association for Dental Research (I.A.D.R.).
Les résultats obtenus montrent :

1. La recherche Odonto-Stomatologique africaine est la moins performante dans le monde et représentait, en 1997, 0,4% des travaux publiés au sein de l’I.A.D.R..
2. Quelques pays africains sont capables de produire des résultats scientifiques de valeur internationale (Afrique du Sud, Egypte et, à un degré moindre, le Nigeria). Ces pays collaborent en général avec des Universités anglo-saxonnes.
3. Ces deux dernières années le Cameroun a obtenu des résultats très encourageants grâce à sa collaboration avec l’Université de Bordeaux 2 (France), représentée par le regretté professeur Ph. NDOBO-EPOY.

Abstract

In this study, the authors measure the efficacy of the African odonto-stomatologic research in the International Assocation for Dental Research (I.A.D.R.) and value the impact of the international cooperation upon that research.
This evaluation is realized from the number of publications presented by the African countries at the congresses of I.A.D.R.
The obtained results show :

1. The African odonto-stomatologic is the less successful in the world and produced, in 1997, 0,4 % of the studies published on the world,
2. Some of the African countries are able to produce scientific results of International valour (South Africa, Egypt and Nigeria in a less degree). Generally, these countries work jointly with anglo-saxon universities.
3. During these last two years, Cameroon obtained very encouraging results thanks to his collaboration with the University of Bordeaux 2 (France), represented by the regretted Professeur Ph. NDOBO-EPOY.
