Résumé

On a mesuré la profondeur du sulcus des dents permanentes de 30 enfants, 15 de sexe masculin et 15 de sexe féminin, âgés de 12 à 15 ans. On n'a trouvé aucune différence d'importance entre la profondeur mandibulaire et maxillaire (P< 0,05) Néanmoins une différence de conséquence a été observée entre la profondeur dans la région antérieure et celle dans la région postérieure, toutes deux dans la mâchoire supérieure et la mâchoire inférieure (P = 0.05). La valeur moyenne de la bouche entière a été estimée à 1.98 mm avec un dégagement de 95 % borné à 1.98 ± 94.

Abstract
Gingival sulcus depth in young permanent teeth of Nigerians

The sulcus depth of permanent teeth of young 30 children, 15 of each sex aged 12-15 years was measured. There was no significant difference between the mandibular and maxillary depth (p > 0.05). However a significant difference was observed between the depth in anterior region and that in the posterior region both in the upper and lower jaws (p = 0,05). The mean value for the whole mouth was observed to be 1.98 mm with a 95 % confidence limit of 1.98 ± 94.
