Résumé

Le patient face au chirurgien-dentiste connaît une peur, une anxiété. Le symbolisme de la bouche et des dents revêt depuis l’enfance un caractère totalement spécifique du corps humain. L'image terrifiante des soins dentaires et du dentiste qui a longtemps été stigmatisée à travers la peinture, la littérature, le théâtre et le cinéma peut aujourd’hui changer. De nombreuses options thérapeutiques permettent la prise en charge de l’anxiété à la phobie dentaire ; l’anesthésie, la sédation consciente, associée à un cabinet apaisant, un chirurgien-dentiste bienveillant, l’utilisation ciblée de médicaments ou de méthodes alternatives plus douces ; l’homéopathie, la phytothérapie, l’acupuncture, et les psychothérapies, placent l’intérêt du malade au centre de la relation de soins. Mais à ce panel de traitements s’offre aussi à lui la difficulté du choix. Il s’exercera, sans systématisation, en fonction du patient avec compétence et bienveillance. Certains patients seront adressés ou éventuellement traités en collaboration avec d’autres professionnels de santé.

Abstract
To finish with fear of dental care

The patient facing the dentist knows fear, anxiety. The symbolism of the mouth and teeth from childhood is an entirely specific nature of the human body. The terrifying image of dental treatment and dentist that has long been stigmatized through painting, literature, theater and cinema can change today. Many therapeutic options to the management of anxiety in dental phobia; anesthesia, conscious sedation, combined with a soothing cabinet, a caring dentist, targeted use of medications or milder alternative methods; homeopathy, herbal medicine, acupuncture, psychotherapy, places the patient’s interests at the center of the caregiving relationship. But this treatment panel is also offered him the difficulty of the choice. This exercise without systematization, according to the patient with competence and kindness. Some patients may be sent or processed in collaboration with other health professionals.
